Dani Irawan

Irawan, now living in the USA, was born and raised in Sumedang, Indonesia. In 2007, he moved to the neighboring city Bandung to study at Institut Teknologi Bandung for a bachelor degree in physics. There, he developed an interest on computational methods and simulations which was further encouraged by his teacher and supervisor.

He continued his education at Chalmers University of Technology in Gothenburg, Sweden where he began to have interest in optimization methods. He completed his Master in Engineering Mathematics and Computational Science in 2016. His master thesis work was in implementing an optimization framework on a CFD solver. This allows us to automatically and efficiently tinker designs in simulation environment. It was conducted at Fraunhofer-Chalmers Center for Industrial Mathematics (http://www.fcc.chalmers.se).

His research interest lies in optimization and simulations, particularly CFD simulations. His other research interest is in traffic simulation due to the increasing traffic congestion in his hometown and his desire to improve it.
